ABOUT
Brief History of Atlanta Metro Chapter
The Atlanta Metropolitan Chapter was chartered in 2008. From 2009 through 2012, the Chapter participated in several community events including volunteering and speaking at schools, organizations, churches, radio, television, participating in parades, and hosting the biennial reunion in Savannah in 2010. Affected by the downturn in the economy, the Chapter became dormant in 2012 and was revitalized in March 2013. Col. Dolores Hampton was the Acting President, Harriet Staten and Kataleen Harris were the Chapter Advisors, and Sparkle Adams was the Public Relations Chairperson. Our chapter grew to 35 paid members and elections were held in June 2013 voting Col. Elfreda Kirksey as President. She faithfully served for 5 years progressing the chapter through many milestones.
The Atlanta Metro Chapter has been actively participating in community projects serving as mentors to youth that show interest in pursuing military careers. We have been instrumental in giving back to the community servicing the less fortunate, conducting Can Drives, Toy’s for Tot’s, Real Women Read program, Hosea Helps, serving on panels with the Auburn Ave Research library, mentoring R.OT.C. Cadets and a host of other civic initiatives, the Atlanta Metro Chapter is about our mission of telling “HerStory”.
